Welcome to the Greengeo web site, home of Carol and Les Thomas. The site reflects our joint and separate interests. Greengeo, in the village of Scarfskerry, county of Caithness, is on the shore of the Pentland Firth. We are located a few miles to the east of Dunnet Head, the most northerly point on the UK mainland. We live in a 200-year-old traditional longhouse, which we are now and, probably for the rest of our lives, will continue to be renovating. Other members of the "family" are Trouble, the rescue border collie, and Katie, the aging tabby cat from Florida who questions why she had to spend six months in quarantine in order to live here, whilst Carol did not. We are both avid landscape photographers. We enjoy playing Scrabble, which involves constant bickering over UK English vs. American English spelling. Usually UK spelling prevails, but Carol gets her revenge when we work the daily Washington Post crossword online together. Les (GM0TKB), is the most northerly UK mainland based licensed amateur radio station. Other interests are shipping, collies, weather, wildlife, and the natural world. Carol, originally from the USA, is active with local historical societies, as well as genealogical and historical research. Other interests are music, reading, and crocheting and weaving with natural yarns.
